2008 NFL Preseason “Quick Analysis”
AFC Miami Dolphins
Location: Miami Gardens, Florida
Stadium: Dolphin Stadium
Coach: Cam Cameron
NFL Championships: Super Bowl VII (1972) & Super Bowl VIII (1973)
For Miami, the best thing about their 1-15 2007 season was that it ended. Understandably, Bill Parcells has come in and cleaned house.with a fresh batch of new talent that should make things much more interesting in South Florida.
The Miami Dolphins woes on offense look to be unresolved. Jake Long is the first step in restoring the offensive line, but left tackles will need some help. The quarterback position up in the grabs between Josh McCown and John Beck and the wide receivers look underwhelming with Ted Ginn Jr. and Ernest Wilford starting. Ronnie Brown is hoping that a reinvigorated Ricky Williams does not take his starting spot after he sat out most of last season with an injury. Williams used to be a dominant back, and word is that he has dedicated himself to becoming a great weapon again.
The hope is that Vonnie Holiday, Jason Taylor, and Joey Porter are able to use their veteran leadership to keep the defense solid after a disastrous season last tear. The Miami Dolphins need the defense to improve to keep fans in the seats and too keep the offense from playing catch up every game of the schedule.
Some Miami Dolphins history: For most of their history, the Dolphins were coached by Don Shula, the winningest head coach in professional football history. His Dolphins teams posted losing records in only 2 of his 26 seasons with the club. In 1972 the Dolphins became the first and only NFL team to complete a 14-game regular season without a loss.
