Amp Energy 500 Odds

Sign Up Click HereThe UAW-Ford 500 is now the AMP Energy 500. Talladega Superspeedway officials announced that the Sprint Cup race at the 2.66-mile track will be called the Amp Energy 500 under terms of a new sponsorship agreement.

Talladega Superspeedway hosts its second Sprint Cup Series race of 2009 with this particular event being held on the weekend of Halloween for the first time in the tracks history.

The Talladega Superspeedway is known for its ability to produce excitement – lots of it. Even better, racing fans get to bet the seventh race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup—the AMP Energy 500. Talladega is one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR with four lanes and a backstretch that is nearly 4,000 feet long. With this layout, stock cars have reached speeds exceeding 220 mph!

One thing for sure about the racing at Talladega Superspeedway, you're not sure of anything. Especially calling a winner at any point before they cross the finish line. Just because your man is leading out of turn four, doesn't automatically mean a trip to victory lane. They can be four and five wide out of four and then must quickly maneuver back into two lanes entering the trioval. Three wide into the trioval and trouble can't be far behind.

In the past, Talladega Superspeedway held its second race each year in the brutal summer heat of July for many years. In 1997 it was moved to the month of October which made it a much more comfortable setting for the fans and the drivers. This was a welcome change for the thousands of fans that had experienced the nearly unbearable temperatures of around 100 degrees in July.

AMP Energy 500 Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway will be featuring NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying on Fri., Oct. 30, Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying on Sat., Oct. 31 and AMP Energy 500, race seven in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup on Sun., Nov. 1.

The Track: Talladega Superspeedway is the longest track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit measuring 2.66 miles. A steep 33 degrees of banking in the corners and 18 degrees in the front tri-oval make handling a secondary consideration. Talladega is big, fast, and all about horsepower and drafting.

Race Distance: 188 laps = 500 miles
