2009 MLB All Star Game

2008 MLB All Star GameVenue: Busch Stadium
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Events Dates:
Sunday, July 12: Futures & Legends Games
Monday, July 13: Home Run Derby
Tuesday, July 14: Baseball All-Star Game
Rosters: The AL & NL rosters will be determined by voting in Spring/Summer 2009

Busch Stadium will host the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and all the MLB Midsummer Classic betting action takes place from July 12-14, 2009. This special collection of events brings together the best of baseball in a true spectacle befitting of the National Pastime.

The 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be the 80th midseason exhibition between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and the National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball.

Nowadays, the sports betting fans and manager-selected players of the National and American Leagues play in a mid-season exhibition game and the results determine which league’s team gets home-field advantage in the World Series that year. Each MLB team is guaranteed to have at least one player selected to participate.

The Home Run Derby, a contest among the sport's top home run hitters, is played on the day before the All-Star Game. In the 2002 All-Star Game, following a highly controversial tie when both teams ran out of pitchers in the 11th inning, the MLB changed the rules to give the All-Star Game new meaning and additional incentive for victory.

As of July 2004, for the 2003-2004 seasons, the MLB team that won the All-Star Game was to be given home-field advantage for the World Series. Previously, home-field advantage in the World Series alternated between the two leagues each year.

The American League currently has a league-best 11-game unbeaten streak (including the tie in 2002), and has dominated the game since 1988 (losing only 3 times and tying 1). They previously dominated from 1933-1949, winning 12 of the first 16. The National League dominated from 1950-1987, winning 33 of 42 with 1 tie. This included a stretch from 1963-1982 when they won 19 of 20.

Do not miss out on all the baseball betting excitement as the game's biggest names compete and add another chapter to baseball's rich legacy. Bet the 2009 MLB All-Star Game, at Skytower Casino.

2009 All-Star Game Results

AL once again won the All-Star Game

Carl Crawford, the hero Tuesday night, knows this can't possibly last forever, but the way these All-Star Games are going, it may take a few more presidential administration changes before the National League ever wins. The American League, with President Obama even showing his support by wearing a White Sox jacket, once again won the All-Star Game, 4-3, Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. They extended their unbeaten streak to a record 13 consecutive games, undefeated since Bill Clinton was president in 1996.

American League triumphs on sac-fly in bottom of 15th
Tuesday became Wednesday in New York City.
Opportunity became escape.

And the final Major League baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium had no interest in finality.

The American League finally won the longest Midsummer Classic 4-3 in the bottom of the 15th inning. The Minnesota Twins Justin Morneau scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by the Texas Rangers' Michael Young.

2008 MLB HR Derby Game Results

Morneau tops Hamilton to win HR Derby

Josh Hamilton turned the Home Run Derby into a marathon. Then he lost it as a sprint.

In a show of sustained power befitting Yankee Stadium's final season and striking awe in an audience of his big league peers, the Texas Rangers' prodigal slugger belted a record 28 home runs in the first round of last night's All-Star exhibition.

But Minnesota's Justin Morneau took home the trophy, if sheepishly, by outlasting the weary Hamilton in the final round, 5-3.

“I was lucky that we got reset,” said Morneau, the American League's 2006 Most Valuable Player. “This was his show. He deserved to win it. That was one of the best performances I've ever seen.”
