UFC 92: “Silva vs. Jackson”

UFC 92: “Silva vs. Jackson”The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced today three big bouts for the final card of 2008 at UFC 92 on Dec, 27 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. A grudge match between MMA legend Wanderlei Silva and former light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson completes the stacked event.

Two titles will be on the line as Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans will fight for the light heavyweight championship and Frank Mir meets interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

The ufc 92 main event. Forrest Griffin, champion of “TUF 1”, up against Rashad Evans, winner of “TUF 2”. Griffin beat Jackson to claim the title, now he makes his first defence against Evans (17-0-1) the man who beat Chuck Liddell to earn his first title shot.

In Rashad Evans last fight, he delivered a blistering overhand right that had former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell out cold in the center of the Octagon during the main event at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Its long been known that the fight for the interim heavyweight title between Antonio Nogueira and Frank Mir would take place.

The two coaches from the current The Ultimate Fighter will square off to not only settle the score of the show, but decide who deserves to be heavyweight champion. Mir (11-3) takes on the only fighter to hold both the PRIDE and UFC heavyweight titles in Nogueira (31-4-1).

Nogueira v Mir is huge, but if you’re talking Fight of the Night – you’re talking Rampage v Wanderlei. Has there ever been an MMA fight that was the subject of more intense speculation than Rampage Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva III?

Wanderlei Silva (32-8-1) is coming off one of the most vicious knock-out victories in UFC history, which left Keith Jardine at UFC 84, wondering which tractor had just ploughed through him. Victory would surely make Wanderlei the number one contender for the light-heavyweight title. Silva, has beaten Jackson twice in the past. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (28-7) has not fought since he lost his title at “UFC 86”. He has revenge on his mind and this is one that no UFC betting fan can afford to miss.

UFC 92 will be shown live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network, TVN, Bell ExpressVu, Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada.
